Tigers Look To Sweep Golden Lions In Season Series

•The Texas Southern women’s basketball team will look to sweep the season series against Arkansas-Pine Bluff as they will face them on Monday in the H.O Clemmons Arena. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.

•Texas Southern (5-20 Overall, 4-19 SWAC) leads the all-time series since 2010-11, 19-8 as Head Coach Vernette Skeete is 1-2 against UAPB (14-13, 9-5). The Tigers won the first match-up this season, 85-80 inside the H&PE Arena.

•The Tigers are coming off a 71-65 loss to Mississippi Valley on Monday inside the H&PE Arena.

•The Tigers were paced offensively by Jaida Belton who registered a double double including 14 points and 12 boards. Nya Harmon and Tatyanna Clayburne chipped in 12 points each.

•UAPB fell 66-57 to the Prairie View A&M Panthers at home Saturday.

•UAPB was led by Maya Peat, who had 14 points and seven rebounds. •Arkansas-Pine Bluff is led by Zaay Green who is second leading scorer in the SWAC as she averages 16.3 points.

•The Golden Lions were predicted to finish third in the SWAC Preseason Poll.

•The Tigers are led offensively by Taniyah Lawson as she averages 11.0 points and 2.9 boards.

•Belton is the fourth leading blocker in the SWAC having 43 in 25 games played.
•The Tigers will have a lot to prove as they were selected to finish 11th in the Preseason SWAC Predicted Order of Finish.

• The Tigers brought in nine newcomers this year. However, they’ve lost nine letterwinners and feature a pair of new assistant coaches.
