Burnett, Wilson Claim Titles In Women’s Track Outdoor Opener

LAKE CHARLES, La. – Lillie Burnett and Alexis Wilson captured first-place finishes as the TSU women’s track & field team opened the 2023 outdoor season at McNeese State on Saturday.

Burnett, a senior from Huntsville, Texas, ran a first-place time of 11.73 in the 100-meter dash to set the tone as TSU finished with eight top-3 finishes overall

Adayshia Coleman (14.47) finished third in the 100-meter hurdles. The sprint medley relay of Lillie Burnett, Shelby Brooks, Madison Dominguez, Jasmine Walker placed second overall in a time of 4:19.49. Ryann Richards jumped 10-0 in the pole vault to place second while Alexis Wilson (18-5) and Madison Dominguez (17-11.5) finished 2-3, respectively in the long jump.

Wilson won the triple jump with a mark of 39-8 while Phylan Perkins threw a mark of 168-8 feet for a second-place finish in the hammer.

TSU is back in action at the 71st annual TSU Relays next Friday and Saturday at TSU.
