Women’s Track & Field Continues To Fine Tune With 8 Top 10 Finishes At Rice

TSU women’s track & field had eight top-10 finishes at the 18th Annual J Fred Duckett Rice Twilight Meet at Rice University on Saturday.
 
Lillie Burnett finished third overall in the 100 as she clocked an 11.86 and finished ninth in the 200 as she ran a 24.72. Rayah Wynn ran a personal-best in the 400 and moved up to 10th in the SWAC as she finished second overall in a time of 56.38.
 
Kayla Jenkins finished eighth in the 100-meter hurdles as she finished with a 14.5 while also running a personal best in the 400-meter hurdles. The 4×100-meter relay of Wynn, Ashlonia John, Burnett and Jenkins placed fourth in a season-best time of 46.75.
 
Phylan Perkins finished second in the hammer after a throw of 172 feet and placed eighth in the discus as she threw a length of 130-4 feet. Skyla Faux finished ninth in the discus as she logged a mark of 135-10 which is a personal best and sixth in the SWAC. Perkins also participated in the javelin as she finished seventh after a throw of 93-4.
 
TSU is back in action at the 2022 SWAC Outdoor Championships in Prairie View, Texas on May 5-7.
