Baseball Falls To Tulane On Road

The Texas Southern University baseball team fell 19-1 to Tulane on Tuesday evening inside Greer Field as the Green Wave used a 10-run first inning to take a commanding lead.

Texas Southern (8-18) scored its lone run in the second inning as Jaden Jones singled to right field and advanced on a Nin Burns, ll single. Jesse Herrera was hit by a pitch to load the bases as Shannon Martin hit a sacrifice-fly to score Jones.

Tulane (16-13) had two players to hit homers including Teo Banks and Matthias Haas. Additionally, they added five doubles and two triples.

Jones went 2-for-3 with one run to lead the Tigers, while Burns ll and Herrera lll each registered one hit.

Michael Lombardi (2-2) was credited with the win in just one inning pitched as Tulane used eight different pitchers. James Malone (0-2) took the loss for the Tigers as he started on the mound, giving up seven runs.

Texas Southern will take on Alcorn State in a three-game series on Friday (5 p.m.), Saturday (2 p.m.) and Sunday (1 p.m.) at MacGregor Park.
