Women’s Golf Earns 3rd Place Finish, Hobbs 2nd Overall

PRATTVILLE, Ala. – The Texas Southern women’s golf team concluded their efforts with a third place finish at the ASU Spring Classic hosted by Alabama State University.

Junior Ashlie Hobbs tied in 2nd place for the tournament on a solid 189 (76-74-39) as she was only three strokes behind the individual winner, Christian Williams, of Samford University. Junior Lyla Vaughn finished in 10th place on 202 (80-83-39).

The ASU Spring Classic took place at the Robert Trent Jones Trail – Capitol Hill on Senator Course and was scheduled to be a 54-hole tournament, however, the second round was suspended due to darkness. As a result, the Classic was shortened to 45 holes of play to accommodate the competing team’s travel schedules on Monday.

The Tigers have a week off before heading back on the road as they will compete in the UTRGV Invitational hosted by The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in McAllen, Texas.
