Texas Southern returned to the winner’s column in style with a dominant 3-0 win over Alcorn State Sunday afternoon inside the H&PE Arena.

The Tigers kept up the intensity to begin set two with four straight points but Alcorn State came back and led 9-8 before three straight points from TSU to lead 11-9. Both teams were tied at 14-all again but TSU scored four straight after four ASU errors to lead 18-14. The Braves countered with three straight to draw within 18-17 but Thalia Cordero Moreno and Jada Hall combined for a pair of kills to spark a 4-0 run and a 22-17 TSU lead. ASU would narrow the gap to 23-20 but TSU closed the match with a Cordero Moreno kill and Hall ace to win 25-20.

Ahead 9-6 in the final set, TSU broke the match open with a 6-0 run and extended its lead to 19-9. ASU countered with three straight but TSU responded with team effort and rolled off five straight to lead 24-12. Freshman Chenise Cook put the icing on the cake with a kill to end the match.
