Tigers Fall At McNeese State

LAKE CHARLES, La. –  Jaidyn Christophe registered 10 saves but two second-half goals by McNeese put the match away as Texas Southern fell to McNeese 3-0 in a matchup at Cowgirl Field on Friday night.

The Cowgirls first found the net in the 37th minute of the first half after a shot by Morgan Fiedler assisted by Isabelle Smith. After the break, they pushed the advantage 2-0 in the 68th minute. McNeese was able to capitalize on a penalty kick in the 77th minute to score the final goal. 

Freshman goalkeeper Alessandra Bastidas tallied three saves for the Tigers. The Tigers had a total of eight shots with three of them being on goal. Reining SWAC Player of the Week Hajar Benjoud led TSU with two shots.

Texas Southern continues non-conference play on Sunday as they take on Nicholls State in Thibodeaux, La. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
