Soccer Tarnishes Jackson State’s Undefeated SWAC Record

Two Tigers scored as the Texas Southern soccer team tarnished Jackson State University’s undefeated Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) record in a 2-1 defeat on Sunday evening at the JSU Soccer Field.

How It Happened
>Jackson State (6-8 Overall, 5-1 SWAC) got on the board first after a goal by Kendyl Terrell assisted by Sage Magruder.
>Texas Southern (4-11, 3-2-1) was able to tie the game in the 30th minute after a goal by Liliane Clase Baez (assisted by Isabella Dillow). 
>In the 55th minute, Hajar Benjoud scored what would be her seventh goal of the season on a corner kick.
>TSU Goalkeepers’ Jaidyn Christophe and Alessandra Bastidas split time in the back of the net and had two saves each.

Inside the Numbers
>TSU took 12 shots with eight being on goal
>JSU had 10 shots with five being on goal
>Both teams registered four saves each
>Texas Southern had seven corner kicks
>Jackson State took four corner kicks

UP NEXT
Texas Southern will take on Alabama State on Friday in Montgomery, Ala. The match is set for 6 p.m.
