Soccer Drops 3-0 Decision On Sunday

Abilene Christian scored three first half goals en route to a 3-0 win over Texas Southern on Sunday.

ACU was the aggressor early on with with five shots within the first five minutes. The team scored on its sixth attempt with a goal fro Chayse Thorn six minutes in. Sixteen minutes later, the deficit grew to 2-0 after Thorn’s second goal but TSU would attempt to counter as Hajar Benjoud recorded the first shot in the 22nd minute. Both teams traded shots as the half came to a close bt ACU once again found the goal in the 33rd minute for a 3-0 lead.

TSU had offensive opportunities late in the half with a pair of corner kicks but couldn’t capitalize.

The Tigers would get off six shots in the second half and had some close encounters at scoring but failed to put the ball in the net. Defensively, TSU freshman goalie Alessandra Bastidas held ACU scoreless with solid play in the net.

Liliane Clase Baez and Benjoud led TSU with two shots apiece. Bastidas finished with six saves on the afternoon.

TSU will host Rice on Friday at 3:30 p.m. at Durley Stadium.
