The Texas Southern volleyball duo of Danielle Lilley and Aeris Ramsey were named to the 2021 Preseason All-SWAC Team by the league’s volleyball head coaches and Sports Information Directors.
Beginning her third season at TSU, Lilley led TSU in kills (113) and was eighth in the SWAC in 2021. The San Bernardino, Calif. native scored 122.5 points (10th in the SWAC) and ranked fourth on the team in digs and fifth in service aces. She had five games with double-digit kills with a high of 16 and 13 against Grambling State, respectively. Lilley also recorded 16 digs against Grambling and had a season-high three services aces at SU and four blocks against Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
A native of Missouri City, Texas, Ramsey led TSU with 192 assists and 12 service aces in her first season at TSU. She finished second on the team with 107 digs and had five games with 10-plus digs including 15 against Arkansas-Pine Bluff and 14 versus Grambling State. Ramsey also recorded four service aces against Grambling State and posted the fourth and fifth-best assist totals in five set matches.
The 2021 season kicks off next Friday, Aug. 27 in Thibodeaux, La. against Nicholls State at 12:30 p.m. for the start of the Colonels Classic.
