Lady Tigers take second place at SWAC championship

ALEXANDRIA, La. – The Lady Tigers of Texas Southern University claimed second place at the Southwestern Athletic Conference women’s golf championship this week.
 
At the Oak Wing Golf Course in Alexandria, the Lady Tigers turned in a two-day total of 654 to take second place. They finished 48 strokes ahead of third-place Prairie View A&M.
 
TSU’s Amber Kuykendall led turned in rounds of 78 and 82 to lead the Lady Tigers, finishing with a 16-over par 160, good for sixth place in the individual standings. Her round of 78 on the first day of competition was the low score for the Lady Tigers in the event.
 
Logan Hackett finished seventh individually with a two-day score of 162. She carded a round of 80 on the first day, and then shot an 82 on the second day.
 
Destany Burbank and Payton Anderson finished tied for eighth place on the individual leaderboard with identical scores of 166 for the Lady Tigers. Burbank turned in rounds of 86 and 80, while Anderson and carded an 81 on the first day, and an 85 on the second day.
 
Carly Moore also competed for the Lady Tigers; she shot a 179 for the two-day event.
 
Alabama State won the championship with a combined score of 605.
