Brooks Places 2nd, Mile Relay Posts SWAC’s Fastest Time At Howie Ryan Invitational

Shelby Brooks finished second in the 400 meters and the mile relay team posted the SWAC’s fastest time as TSU had five top 10-finishes at the Howie Ryan Invitational on Friday at Yeoman Fieldhouse.
 
Brooks finished second in the 400 (55.78) as it marked her fastest time this season and ranks third in the SWAC. Bayli George placed seventh in the event and is ninth in the SWAC after an indoor-best time of 57.59. The mile relay team of Desirae Roberts, Avia Trammell, Brooks and George ran the fastest time in the SWAC at this point with a fourth-place finish of 3:48.12.
 
Ryann Richards placed sixth in the pole vault and is second in the SWAC after a mark of 10-2 feet while Angela Sanchez placed ninth in the weight throw (46-01.25).
 
Erica Grant moved up to seventh in the SWAC as she ran a personal best of 24.83 in the 200.
Jessica Williams ranks sixth in the SWAC after a time of 11:19.75 in the 3,000.
 
TSU is back in action at the 2024 SWAC Indoor Track & Field Championships in Birmingham, Ala. on Feb. 17-18.
