Women’s Golf Atop The Leaderboard Following Opening Round Of SWAC Women’s Championship

FLOWOOD, Miss. – The Texas Southern women’s golf team is in first place after day one of the 2022 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Golf Championships.

Freshman, Kennedi Lee has the solo lead by one shot following her 4-over-par opening round of 76.

“With tough conditions, we played fairly well,” Texas Southern University head golf coach, Dr. Gary Grandison said.

Fellow freshman, Dili Sitanonth and junior, Ashlie Hobbs, are tied for second place after their 5-over, 77 rounds. Sophomore Lyla Vaughn and grad student Rev Alcantara are tied for sixth.

“We have room for improvement, so hopefully we will progress tomorrow”, Dr. Grandison concluded.

The Lady Tigers tee up for the second round of the SWAC Championships Tuesday morning with an 8 am start at The Refuge Golf Club.
