Women’s Basketball To Play In Final Home Game Of The Season

•The Texas Southern women’s basketball team will play in its final regular season game of the season inside the H&PE Arena on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 3:00 p.m.

•Texas Southern (6-22 Overall, 5-12 SWAC) leads the all-time series since 2011-12, 15-12, however TSU loss the first match-up this season, 78-65 in Prairie View, Texas.

•Last timeout, The Tigers snapped a five-game losing streak at home in a 71- 63 win against Alcorn State Monday night.

•Texas Southern was led Jaida Belton’s 12 points and nine boards. Nya Har- mon added 12 points as well, while Taniya Lawson and Daeja Holmes tallied 11 points each.

•Prairie View (11-16, 7-10) fell 75-65 to the Jackson State Tigers at home Monday.

•Ryann Payne tallied 21. Jada Roberson added 10 points and five assists while Gerlyn Smith added eight points, seven rebounds, four assists and two blocks.

•Payne is the 3rd leading scorer in the SWAC as she averages 15.8 points per game.

•Prairie View was predicted to finish sixth in the SWAC Preseason Poll.

•The Tigers are led offensively by Lawson as she averages 10.6 points and 2.9 boards.

•Belton is the fourth leading blocker in the SWAC having 46 in 28 games played.

•The Tigers will have a lot to prove as they were selected to finish 11th in the Preseason SWAC Predicted Order of Finish.
