Women’s Basketball Continues Road Slate at LSU

•The Texas Southern women’s basketball team will face the defending National Champions, LSU on Monday inside the Pete Marvich Assembly Center.

•LSU leads the all-time series against TSU, 5-0 since 1977-78, with the last match-up being Dec. 2021. LSU took the 96-55 victory.

•Monday’s contest will be the first time TSU Head Coach Vernette Skeete will face LSU as head coach of TSU, however she is no stranger to SEC opponents as she was Co-Associate Head Coach at Texas A&M, 2021-22.

•LSU Head Coach Kim Mulkey is no stranger to Texas Southern as she is 2-0 against TSU during her head coaching reign at Baylor University (2000-2021). Monday will be her first time facing TSU at her current helm.

•Texas Southern is coming into the competition from a 57-38 loss to Old Dominion on Friday morning as Taniya Lawson would lead the offense with 13 points.

•LSU is 4-1 after a 73-50 win against Southeastern Louisiana on Friday night as Flau’jae Johnson led the team with a double-double including 17 points and 11 boards.

• Texas Southern returns four starters: Taniya Lawson, Jaida Belton, Alisa Knight, and Anela Thomas.

• The Tigers will see a lot of new faces this year as they’ve brought in nine newcomers. However, they’ve lost nine letterwinners and feature a pair of new assistant coaches.
