Tigers Drop Weekend Contest At No. 8 Creighton

OMAHA, Neb. – Texas Southern dropped  its fourth straight contest as No.8 Creighton claimed an 82-50 win Saturday night.
 
The Bluejays turned a 4-2 lead into a 25-9 lead halfway through the first half following a 21-7 run. Shaqir O’Neal’s three-pointer drew TSU to within 11 (27-16) with 7:32 remaining but the Bluejays would outscore the Tigers 20-11 the rest of the way for a 47-27 halftime lead.
 
The Tigers would cut the deficit below 20 points on three occasions within the first 11 minutes of the half. However, TSU would have a six-minute scoring drought in which the Bluejays would take full advantage of en route to the win.
 
Zytarious Mortle led TSU with 14 points while Jahmar Young, Jr. added seven points and seven rebounds.
 
TSU is back in action on Tuesday at Oral Roberts in Tulsa, Okla. at 7 p.m.
