Wilson Wins Triple Jump, Perkins Named Most Outstanding Field Performer As Women’s Track Finishes 5th At SWAC

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – Alexis Wilson claimed the SWAC’s triple jump title and Phylan Perkins was named Most Outstanding Field Performer as the TSU women’s track & field team placed fifth at the 2023 SWAC Outdoor Championships at Prairie View A&M University.
 
Lillie Burnett placed seventh in the 100 (11.86) while Bayli George (56.77) and Shelby Brooks (57.7) finished seventh and eighth, respectively in the 200. Adayshia Coleman placed seventh in the 100-meter hurdles (14.13) while Jasmine Walker placed eighth in the 800 (2:27.64). The 4×100-meter relay finished seventh (46.77) while the mile relay placed fifth (3:46.89).
 
Alexis Wilson won the triple jump with a mark of 41-5.25 feet while Phylan Perkins placed fourth in the shot put after a throw of 45-3. Skyla Faux placed seventh in the same event after throwing 41-7.25 feet.
 
Several athletes may have an opportunity to compete in the 2023 NCAA Regional in late May but will have to await the final rankings in the next few weeks.
