Volleyball Returns To The Court In Nearly A Month, Falls To Jackson State in Hard-Fought Match

JACKSON, Miss. – The TSU volleyball team returned to action for the first time in nearly a month Tuesday night. The Lady Tigers fought hard but fell 3-0 to Jackson State.

JSU opened the first set with a 4-0 run but TSU began to settle down and claimed a 10-9 lead as Danielle Lilley led the way with three kills. TSU was neck-and-neck with JSU throughout the set as the score was 19-18 JSU entering the home stretch.  JSU would score the next three points to claim a 22-18 lead as TSU would halt the run after Thalia Cordero-Moreno’s kill. However, JSU added two kills and an ace to close out the set 25-19.

TSU opened set two with an early 4-1 run led by Jada Hall’s two kills. JSU would tie the set at 7-all but TSU bounced back and claimed an 8-7 lead after Radka Brichackova’s block. TSU committed two errors and helped aid JSU’s 4-0 run for an 11-8 deficit but they would bounce back with a 3-0 surge to tie the set at 11-all. The tide began to turn in JSU’s favor though as they outscored TSU 6-1 from that point to lead 16-12. TSU would close to within four on several occasions from that point but couldn’t get over the hump as they fell 25-19.

Set three was a mirror image of the first two games as TSU led 14-13 but JSU pulled away as they outscored TSU 12-2 to claim the match.

Lilley led TSU with seven kills while Aeris Ramsey had 11 assists and 11 digs followed by Brichackova’s two blocks.

TSU is finally back at home on Friday against Southern at 4 p.m. inside the H&PE Arena.
