The Texas Southern volleyball team concluded the first two games of the UNF Invitational with losses to The University of Florida and Charolette on Friday.

After a tie at six in set one, UNF would go on a 10-7 run to take a slight 16-13 advantage. The Ospreys would add four more points as Mahalia White had two kills in that rally. The Tigers would only tally three more points as they fell 25-16.

In set two, the score was tied at four each, however UNF would silence the Tigers with nine points in a row. TSU and UNF would then exchange service error points as the score was 14-5. The Tigers couldn’t recover from the nine point rally as they dropped the set 25-13.

The Ospreys got off to a 4-0 start in the third set. The score was as close as 10-7, but that’s as close as the Tigers would get as they fell 25-17.

Texas Southern tallied 22 kills and added 24 digs in the match.

UNCC 3, TSU 0
The first set was a battle starting with a tie at four. The Tigers then gained five points in a row as Gracie Hill and Chenise Cook led the rally with a kill a piece. Down the stretch, the set was tied at 17 and then again at 23, but TSU couldn’t hold on as UNCC would get the last two points off of a kill by Florencia Wolkowyski and an attack error.

The second set was as close as a 16 point tie, but the Tigers would only score three more points in a 25-19 loss.

Amber Johnson registered a kill to put the Tigers on top 18-17 in the third set, but the 49ers scored five points in a row, capped by a Lara Kretschmer kill to take a 22-18 lead. After an exchange of points, Hill would tally another kill as the Tigers trailed 23-20 but it wasn’t enough as errors killed them in the end.
