Volleyball Concludes Dr. Pam Littleton Classic With Loss To Tarleton State

The Texas Southern volleyball team concluded competition in the Dr. Pam Littleton Classic with a 3-0 loss to Tarleton State on Saturday evening. 

Texas Southern (0-14) was paced offensively by Kennedy Reed as she tallied 10 kills. Dallas Balanay-Flores and Ava Ray chipped in 12 and 11 assists each.  On the defensive side, Balanay-Flores led with eight digs.

How It Happen:
Tarleton State (7-5) tied the first set at eight after a TSU attack error then would take an 11-8 point lead capped by a pair of kills from Rajini Fitzmaurice. The Highlanders would get their largest lead of the evening 21-12 as they went on a 10-4 run capped by a service ace by Emma Burke. TSU fought  back with four points in a row, led by kills from Chinese Cook and Reed but it wasn’t enough as they would only gain two more points to end the set 25-18. 

The Tigers trailed by just three (18-15) in the second set, but Tarleton State outsourced TSU 6-1 as they led 24-16. Texas Southern held the Highlanders’ game-point for four more points,  but it wasn’t enough as TSU dropped the set 25-20.

TSU dropped set three 25-16. The team registered 12 kills on 33 attempts in the effort.

UP NEXT
Texas Southern will begin conference play on Sunday, Sept. 24 as they take on Grambling State University at the H&PE Arena at 3 p.m.
