Tigers On Road At Jackson State

•The Texas Southern women’s basketball team will face Jackson State in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play on Monday inside the Lee E. Williams Athletics and Activity Center. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.

•Texas Southern will look to snap an eight game losing streak against JSU that dates back to the 2018-19 season.

•Texas Southern (3-13 Overall, 2-3 SWAC) fell in its second straight SWAC game to Alcorn State (69-51) on Saturday.

•Nya Harmon registered 11 points, six rebounds, and three assists. Taniya Lawson added 10 points, respectively.

• Jackson State (9-6, 4-0) had five players score in double figures in route to a 91-54 win over Prairie View A&M on Saturday.

•JSU, who is predicted to finish first in the SWAC Preason Poll is led by Ti’lan Boler, who is averaging 10.7 points per game.

•TSU is 3-0 this season when scoring 70 or more points.

•Jaida Belton is the second leading blocker in the SWAC having 28 in 16 games played. Additionally, she’s had four games with three or more blocks, being against Old Dominion, Rice, Tarleton, and Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

• Daeja Holmes has had three 20+ point games this season against North American, Cali- fornia Baptist, and Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

•The Tigers will have a lot to prove as they were selected to finish 11th in the Preseason SWAC Predicted Order of Finish.

• The Tigers brought in nine newcomers this year. However, they’ve lost nine letterwinners and feature a pair of new assistant coaches.
