Bridges Earns 2021-22 Preseason All-SWAC Honors

Texas Southern guard Ataiya Bridges was named to the 2021-22 Preseason All-SWAC Second Team. The all-conference honors were voted on by the league’s coaches and sports information directors.

One year after earning All-SWAC honors as a reserve, Bridges made the most of her expanded role as a starter in 2020-21 as she led TSU with 16.5 points while grabbing 5.2 rebounds and a SWAC-best 3.2 steals. As TSU needed Bridges, Bridges responded with five games of 20-plus points including a 29-point effort against Arkansas-Pine Bluff and 28 at Alabama State. Bridges has also had a double-digit rebound game last season season in addition to an 11-assist, eight-steal performance at Prairie View A&M.

As a team, TSU was picked to finish sixth in the preseason poll.
