Soccer Prepares For Houston Christian

For the first time since 2015, the Texas Southern soccer team will face Houston Christian on Sunday at Durley Stadium.

Texas Southern (0-7) comes into the competition after falling 4-0 to Texas State. Graduate Student Hajar Benjoud leads the Tigers having scored four of five of this season’s goals. Alessandra Bastidas and Jaidyn Christophe has 29 and 21 saves each.

SERIES HISTORY
•Texas Southern and Houston Christian have met up seven times as HCU is undefeated
•The last time these two teams met was the 2015 season. HCU won 1-0.
•This will be the second time TSU will play host as the Tigers only played at home against HCU once back in 2007
•The Universities are only separated by 14 miles.

SCOUTING REPORT
Houston Christian (1-4) comes into the competition on a two game losing streak with its last loss being 5-1 to the University of Houston. The lone goal was scored by Alexa Huerta. Additionally, three Huskies earned preseason honors including Kat Lazor who earned first team honors and Chloe Bagshaw and Mia Salas who were second team selections. Sophomore Goalie Chloe Bagshaw has 19 saves in the season.

UP NEXT
TSU will remain home at Alexander Durley Stadium to take on Sul Ross State on Thursday. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
