Men’s Track & Field Places 2nd, Stoudmire, Hines, Castaneda Win Titles In Outdoor Opener

LAKE CHARLES, La. – Turey Stoudmire, Adam Hines and Donyae Castaneda won individual titles as the TSU men’s track & field team placed second overall and had 29, top-10 marks during its 2024 outdoor season opener at the McNeese Cowboy Relays.

Stoudmire won the high jump with a mark of 6-8.75 feet while Hines cleared 14-1.25 feet to win the pole vault. Donyae Castaneda had a length of 22-11.25 feet to win the long jump.

Chaunzavia Lewis placed third in the 100 with a run of 10.62 while William Perry (10.71), Isaac Henderson (10.78) and Donyea Jarmon (10.83) placed 5-6-8. Jarmon placed third in the 110-meter hurdles (14.57) as he was followed by Hilton Smith (14.89), Chaunkiveon Lewis (14.98) and Malachi Byrd (15.22) at 5-6-9.

Smith (58.55) and Chaunkiveon Lewis (1:00.47) placed third and fourth, respectively in the 400-meter hurdles to round out the individual performances in the sprints.

In the relays, the 4×100 team of Trevon Ridley, Chaunzavia Lewis, Perry and Henderson finished second in a time of. 42.25. The mile relay “A” team of Michael Strange Jr., Perry, Kaseem Ibraheem-Washington and Smith finished fourth (3:22.04) followed by the “B” team of Chaunkiveon Lewis, Chaunzavia Lewis, Ridley and Jarmon placed sixth in a time of 3:35.39.

Joshua Goslee jumped 13-5.25 to place second in the pole vault while Smith recorded a mark of 22-3.75 in the long jump as he placed fifth. Ahmad Muhammad placed second in the triple jump with a mark of 46-3.25 to close out the jumps.

Blaine Nunn had a mark of 45-4.5 feet to place fourth in the shot put. TSU had four place in the top 10 in the discus led by Jaden Brooks (145-10 / 3rd), Swazi Gurnell (119-5 / 8th), Kellen Garion (118-2 / 9th) and Jalen Walker (113-8 / 10th).

Walker finished third in the hammer after throwing 162-9 feet as he was followed by Brooks (135-2 / 6th), Nunn (125-11 / 8th), Garion (104-0 / 9th) and Gurnell (93-7 / 10th).
