Low Shooting Day Proves Costly In 81-62 Loss To Arkansas-Pine Bluff

Three Tigers scored in double figures but it wasn’t enough as the Texas Southern women’s basketball team fell 81-62 in a Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) match-up at the H.O. Clemmons Arena on Monday night, against Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

Texas Southern ((5-21 Overall, 4-11 SWAC) trailed 21-13 after one quarter as the Golden Lions (15-13, 10-5) went 4-of-11 on 10-of-20 shooting from the field to TSU’s 5-of-15 (33 percent) shooting from the field.

The Golden Lions had a 38-29 advantage going into the locker room.

The game was as close as a 38-31 Tiger deficit in the third after a layup by Greta Galban with 9:41 in the third but the Golden Lions used a 23-2 run to lead 61-39 going to to the fourth.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff conjured up  54 bench points to Texas Southern’s 13.

TSU was led offensively by Daeja Holmes who registers 18 points and four rebounds. Nya Harmon added 13 points on 4-of-8 shooting from the field, while TaNiyah Lawson added 12 points including being 7-of-8 from the charity stripe.

UAPB was paced by Coriah Beck who registered 21 points, six boards and six assists. Maya Pete added 16 points while Kaila Walker chipped on -5 points and seven assists.
