Lewis Wins 100 Meters At Prairie View Relays, Tigers Have 9 Top-10 Marks This Past Weekend

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – Chaunzavia Lewis won the 100-meter dash as the TSU men’s track and field team had seven top-10 performances at the annual Prairie View A&M Relays. TSU also had two top-10 outings at the Victor Lopez Classic at Rice.
 
Lewis won the 100-meter dash in a time of 10.68 for his first career outdoor title at TSU.
 
Turey Stoudemire jumped 6-6 for a second-place finish in the high jump followed by James Autrey’s fifth-place finish (5-10). Elijah Jordan placed fourth in the long jump with a mark of 20-9.25 while Malachi Byrd placed fifth (20-9.25) and Autrey III eighth (18-9.75).
 
Jordan also finished second in the triple jump as he logged a mark of 46-05.
 
Several Tigers also participated at the Victor Lopez Classic at Rice as Jose Gonzalez and Albert Norman both had top-five outings.
 
Gonzalez ran a personal best time of 3:50.96 to place fifth in the 1,500-meter run as his run ranks atop the SWAC. Albert Norman finished third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a personal-best time of 9:58.23 as he ranks fourth in the SWAC currently.
 
Even though Ka’Bren Mitchell didn’t finish top five at Rice, his time of 1:53.77 was a personal best and moved him into a fourth-place tie in the SWAC.
 
The team is back in action at the Texas Relays in Austin this weekend.
