Women’s Track & Field Claims 4 Titles, Posts 18 Top-10 Finishes At Prairie View, 2 At Victor Lopez Classic

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – The TSU women’s track team posted 18 top-10 finishes at the Prairie View Relays and two from Phylan Perkins at the Victor Lopez Classic this past weekend.
 
TSU walked away with four individual titles at the Prairie View Relays as Shelby Brooks started things off with a personal and SWAC-best time of 55.27 in the 400.
 
Freshmen Tardranique London and Madison Dominguez both won a share of the high jump title as both tied with a mark off 4-11 as Dominguez’s was a personal-best. Fellow freshman Alexis Wilson claimed the triple jump title after a mark of 39-2.25 while finishing second overall and posting a personal-best and the SWAC’s fourth-best long jump mark of 18-7.
 
Lillie Burnett finished third in the 100 (12.0) while London (58.6), Dominquez (58.96) and Bayli George (59.54) finished 7-8-9 in the 400. Both London and George’s time was a personal best.
 
Adayshia Coleman ran 14.49 to finish second in the 100-meter hurdles followed by Kayla Jenkins’ third-place time of 14.6 and Lyriq Ray’s eighth-place mark of 16.3. Ray ran a 1:11.27 as her personal-best mark was good for seventh in the 400-meter hurdles.
 
The 100-meter relay of Burnett, Dominguez, Brooks and Jenkins placed third with a season-best time of 47.13 while the mile relay of Dominguez, Burnett, London and Brooks ran 3:52.01 for a season-best mark and a second-place finish.
 
Ryann Richards placed second in the pole vault with a height of 9-10-75 and was eighth in the long jump (17-0.75). Ibukunoluwa Lawson finished 10th in the long jump with a personal-best mark of 16-4.5.
 
In Houston at the Victor Lopez Classic, Phylan Perkins placed seventh in the hammer after posting a SWAC-best mark of 169-11 feet. She also posted a career-best mark in the shot put after placing 10th with a throw of 43-0.5 feet.
 
The team is back in action at the Texas Relays in Austin this weekend.
