Hobbs, Lee Tied For 1st As Lady Tigers Grow Their Lead At SWAC Championship

FLOWOOD, Miss. – Junior Ashlie Hobbs and Freshman Kennedi Lee are tied for first place as the Texas Southern women’s golf team extended its lead over the field at the end of day two of the 2022 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Golf Championships.

Hobbs posted a 4-over round today to give her a 9-over two-day total of 153 (77-76) while Lee’s 5-over round provides the 153 (76-77).

“We had a better team round today,” Texas Southern University head golf coach Dr. Gary Grandison said.

The remaining Lady Tigers are all positioned within the top 10 as freshman Dili Sitanonth’s 154 (77-77) places her third. Graduate student Rev Alcantara is in sixth following her 6-over 78.

“We are gearing up for our final round with a purpose,” Dr. Grandison concluded.

The Lady Tigers tee up for the final round of the SWAC Championships Wednesday morning with an 8:50 a.m. start at The Refuge Golf Club. At stake is the team’s first SWAC Championship since 2017 and only the second one in school history.
