Gendorf, Haslam Named To 2023 All-SWAC Softball Second Team

The Texas Southern softball duo of Daryn Haslam and Jazmine Gendorf earned a spot on the 2023 All-SWAC Second Team, which was voted on by the league’s Sports Information Directors and Head Softball Coaches.

Haslam was TSU’s top hitter this season as the Cedar Park, Texas native led TSU in batting average (.301), OPS (.915), runs (15), hits (31), home runs (6), RBI (17), total bases (53), slugging percentage (.515), walks (17) and on-base percentage (.400). The second baseman, who earned All-SWAC honors in 2021, had seven games with multiple hits including two games with four hits. She also had five games with two-plus RBI including three against Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Prairie View A&M.

Gendorf earned All-SWAC honors for the second straight season. A native of Waco, Texas, she was the 2023 SWAC Preseason Pitcher of the Year as she led the team in strikeouts (47) while tying for team lead with six wins. She had seven complete games and one shutout on the season.

Both players begin their postseason run Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. against Bethune-Cookman in the first round of the SWAC Tournament.
