Softball Falls In Midweek Road Doubleheader At Texas A&M-Corpus Christi

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – TSU dropped a doubleheader to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Tuesday afternoon.
 
A&M-Corpus Christi 6, TSU 2
The Islanders scored the first five runs and never looked back as they won 6-2 in the o­­pener.
 
TSU fell behind 3-0 after a three-run first by the Islanders and 5-0 after four innings.
 
The Tigers closed the gap to 5-2 in the fifth as Haley Castro and Tevanae Tate scored on Aubri Ford’s 2-RBI single. The Islanders tacked on a run in the sixth for the game’s final margin as TSU left a pair on base over the final two innings.
 
Ford led TSU with two RBI and a hit while Cat Hernandez dropped to 0-1 on the season as she pitched four innings.
 
A&M-Corpus Christi 7, TSU 1
TSU dropped game two by a 7-1 margin in the nightcap.
 
Tamera McKnight drove in the first run of the game as Julia Bilbao scored for the 1-0 lead. The Islanders tied the game at 1-all in the second before tacking on three more runs in the third for a 4-1 margin. TSU would load the bases in the fourth but came up empty-handed while Texas A&M-CC added three more in the sixth for the game’s final runs.
 
Bilbao, McKnight and Mila Rodriguez all had hits for TSU. Jazmine Gendorf fell to 7-6 on the year as she pitched three innings of action.
 
TSU is back on the road at Prairie View A&M on Friday at 3 p.m. in Prairie View, Texas.
