Dr. Kevin Granger Receives Athletic Director Of The Year Award

Texas Southern University Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics Dr. Kevin Granger was named Athletics Director of the Year by Pulse The Magazine on Sunday at the HBCU All-Star Game.

In his fifth year, TSU has flourished both athletically, fiscally and academically under Dr. Granger.

Under his watch, TSU has made upgrades to several of its athletic venues with new venues on the horizon as it marked the first time in decades TSU has built on-campus athletic facilities. In the classroom, TSU has consistently finished atop the SWAC in APR as the department was recently awarded the 2021-22 SWAC Academic Success Award. On the field, TSU has finished in the upper echelon in the SWAC Commissioner’s Cup standings while earning titles in men’s cross country, men’s basketball and men’s and women’s golf.

“I’m honored to receive this award from Pulse The Magazine,” he said. “My goal is to ensure our student-athletes are showcased in the best possible light and put in position to succeed both in the classroom and on the field. I want to also thank our Board of Regents and President Dr. Lesia L. Crumpton-Young for providing the resources and support needed for the department to flourish in addition to the athletic department staff for their efforts in carrying out our vision.”

Pulse The Magazine is based in Houston, Texas and was founded in 2013. The magazine focuses on local happenings in the Houston area and honors individuals, businesses and corporations for their work in the local community.
