Baseball Closes Out Series At Texas Tech

LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Southern dropped its series finale at Texas Tech Wednesday afternoon in Lubbock.

The Red Raiders broke open a scoreless game with an eight-run second inning and never looked back. Tech added two more in the third on two outs, three in the fourth and two in the fifth.

TSU had a chance in the fifth to get on the board with back-to-back singles to lead the inning off followed by a walk to load the bases. However, a pop up and inning-ending double play quieted the rally.

D’Artagnan Padron, Tyrese Clayborne and Tyler Williams had hits for TSU. Alex Olguin was tagged with the loss as Adam Dearinger and Jaiden Beck all saw action on the mound.

TSU now turns its attention to SWAC play as they’ll open conference play against Prairie View A&M on Friday at 5 p.m. at MacGregor Park.
