Women’s Track & Field Closes Out Busy Weekend

The TSU women’s track & field team wrapped up the weekend at both the PV and Victor Lopez Relays.

The TSU throwers posted three top-10 marks as they participated in the 41st annual Victor Lopez Classic at Rice University on Saturday.
 
Gianna Trotter placed fourth in the discus with a career-best mark of 137-9 while Angela Sanchez placed 10th in the event. Kayla Robert-Day threw 40-11.5 feet in the shot put as she placed sixth while also throwing a career-best.
 
PV RELAYS
TSU women’s track & field had 20-top 10 marks at the annual Prairie View Relays on Saturday.
 
Erica Grant finished third in the 100 while Avia Trammell placed eighth. Diamond Barrett and Trammel finished 5-6 in the 200 while Tardranique London placed fifth in the 400.
 
Shelby Brooks and Lauren Taylor placed fifth and eighth in the 800 while Jessica Williams finished third in the 1,500-meter run. Lyriq Ray placed fifth in the 100-meter hurdles followed by Adayshia Coleman’s eighth-place finish. Ray also placed sixth in the 400-meter hurdles while the 4×100-meter relay of Trammel, Diamond Barrett, Tyeler Moore and Erica Grant placed second. The mile relay of Trammell, Barrett, Destinee Payne and Amber Butler placed fifth.
 
Barrett jumped a career-best in the high jump to place fourth as she was followed by London’s fifth-place mark. Payne, MyKaylyn Davis and London went 4-6-8 in the long jump while Davis placed third in the triple jump which was also a career best. Kennedy Brown followed as she placed fourth.
 
The team is back in action at the annual Texas Relays next weekend.
