WBB Faces North American In Home Opener

• For the first time ever, Texas Southern will take on North American on Tuesday morning in its home opener inside the H&PE Arena at 11 a.m.

• TSU head coach Vernette Skeete will look for her second win in the city of Houston as this marks her first meeting all-time against a team from the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC). NAU joined the RRAC back in July.

•The Tigers are coming into the macthup from a 76-59 loss to New Mexico in its season opener as three Tigers scored in double figures including Daeja Holmes and Jordyn Turner who had 15 points, and Taniya Lawson who chipped in 12.

•North American fell 82-65 to Nicholls on Monday as Keiarra Rivers paced the Stallion offense with a match-high 22 points and added seven rebounds.

•The last time TSU played a team from the RRAC was Nov. 2018 against Paul Quinn College. The Tigers took the 83-54 win.

• TSU will host five home games this season in non-conference play. The Tigers will host North American, SFA, Nebraska-Omaha, California Baptist,
and Tarleton State.

•Texas Southern returns four starters: Taniya Lawson, Jaida Belton, Alisa Knight, and Anela Thomas.

•The Tigers will see a lot of new faces this year as they’ve brought in nine newcomers. However, they’ve lost nine letterwinners and feature a pair of
new assistant coaches.
