Tigers To Take On Bethune Cookman Inside Moore Gymnasium

•The Texas Southern women’s basketball team will take on Bethune Cookman on Monday inside Moore Gymnasium. Tip-off is set for 4:30 p.m.

•Texas Southern (4-17 Overall, 3-7 SWAC) fell 71-57 to Florida A&M on Saturday evening inside the Al Lawson Center. Jordyn Turner scored a career-high 25 points and 10 rebounds while Daeja Holmes chipped in 10 points.   

•Bethune Cookman (14-9, 5-5) is coming off of a 74-61 win over Prairie View A&M, Saturday afternoon at Moore Gymnasium. Kayla White led all scorers with a career-high 19 points on 9-14 shooting with five rebounds, three assists, and four steals. Kayla Clark scored 16 on 8-12 shooting with five rebounds, a steal, and a block.

•BCU leads the all-time series 2-0, with the last win being Feb. of 2023 (66-62). The Wildcats were predicted to finish seventh in the SWAC Preseason Poll.

•The Wildcats are led by Chanel Wilson who is the sixth leading scorer in the SWAC as she is averaging 12.7 points per game.

•The Tigers are led offensively by Taniyah Lawson as she averages 11.0 points and 3.0 boards.

•Jaida Belton is the third leading blocker in the SWAC having 35 in 21 games played.

•The Tigers will have a lot to prove as they were selected to finish 11th in the Preseason SWAC Predicted Order of Finish.

• The Tigers brought in nine newcomers this year. However, they’ve lost nine letterwinners and feature a pair of new assistant coaches.
