Tigers Claim Series Sweep Over Mississippi Valley State With Strong Performance

ITTA BENA, Miss. – Three players scored in double figures as TSU took control early and never looked back en route to a 73-52 win over Mississippi Valley State.

The contest was even to begin with until the 9:07 mark as Deon Stroud hit a three-pointer for a 21-14 lead. Valley State would miss its next two attempts as TSU would go on a 14-3 run over the next 7:45 to claim a 32-17 lead. During the run,

TSU was near-perfect from the field (6-of-8) as Jonathan Cisse and Grayson Carter combined for nine points. Defensively, TSU held MVSU to 1-of-13 shooting to pull away as they ended the half ahead 34-22 as Cisse scored a layup as time expired.

TSU had the hot hand to begin the second half as they outscored the Delta Devils 20-9 over the first 7:16 as PJ Henry led the charge with 11 points. Ahead by 23 at 54-31, the Tigers never were threatened as they managed to close out its 21st win in the past 23 games over the Delta Devils.

Henry led TSU with 16 points and three steals while Cisse and Stroud scored 11 apiece. Carter led TSU with six rebounds followed by three assists and  two steals from Cisse.

TSU is back in action on Monday night at UAPB for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.
