SAN ANTONIO – Freshman Kennedy Reed earned all-tournament honors as tsu volleyball closed out its opening weekend of play with a 3-0 loss to Missouri State at the UTSA Invitational on Saturday.
Down 6-2 in set one, TSU cut the deficit in half after an assisted block from Reed and Kourtni Collier. However, five TSU attack errors led to a 6-0 Missouri State run and a 12-3 deficit. TSU would draw to within nine after Amber Johnson's kill and Ava Ray's ace. Missouri State pushed its lead up but TSU kept it within single digits following back-to-back Gracie Hill kills. MSU secured the set with a 4-0 run for a 25-12 win.

A kill from Johnson kept TSU close at 15-13 but three attack errors sparked a 5-0 run by the Bears as TSU couldn't keep up en route to a 25-17 defeat.
The Tigers fought early in set three as they were only down four (12-8). However, a 9-2 run by the Bears put the match out of reach as they closed out with a 25-11 win.
