Soccer Falls On Late Goal To St. Mary’s

A late goal in the second half resulted in a 3-2 defeat as Texas fell to St. Mary's Sunday evening.

Once again, Graduate student, Hajar Benjoud was the standout player for the in tonight's match. St. Mary's gained an early lead with a goal scored by Juni Ejere in the 31st minute of the first half only for Benjoud to score an equalizer two minutes later. A yellow card was delivered to St. Mary's in the 34th minute where Benjoud capitalized from it and scored her second goal mere seconds later extending the lead 2-1 to .

St. Mary's scored its second goal in the 69th minute of the second half and sealed their win 10 minutes after with their final goal.

The Tigers had a total of 10 shots with half of them being on goal.

Tonight's goalkeepers posted some promising stats as well with a total of seven saves between graduate student Jaidyn Christophe and freshmen Alessandra Bastidas, and Alicia Audu.

The Tigers continue their non-conference run next week as they take on McNeese State in Lake Charles, . Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
