Men’s Track & Field Moves Up The Charts After Performance At Cameron Burrell Alumni Invitational

Several TSU men’s track student-athletes moved to the top of the SWAC charts after a solid weekend at the Cameron Burrell Alumni Invitational hosted by the University of Houston on Saturday.
 
Saturday’s meet featured some of the top teams in the south in attendance such as LSU, Texas, and Houston in addition to a solid contingent of teams from the region.
 
Chaunzavia Lewis finished third in the 100 (10.37) followed by Issac Henderson (10.45) in fourth and William Perry’s 10th place finish (10.73). Lewis moved to third in the SWAC as a result of his run.
 
Kaseem Ibraheem-Washington placed fifth in the 400 (48.96) while Jose Gonzalez finished sixth in the 800 after posting a career-best time which moved him into the SWAC’s top-10. Brandon Washington (4:02.81) and Jeremiah Barrera (4:20.29) finished 4-9 in the 1,500-meter run as Washington moved to third in the SWAC. Barrera also placed third in the 3,000 after recording a mark of 9:22.97.
 
Hilton Smith (14.5) and Malachi Byrd (15.3) finished 7-10 in the 110-meter hurdles while the 4×100-meter relay of Donyea Jarmon, Lewis, Perry and Henderson ran a SWAC-best 40.12 which moved them into 32nd nationally.
 
Turey Stoudmire placed second (6-10.75) in the high jump while Joshua Goslee (14-3.5) and Ian Charles (14-3.5) went 4-5 in the pole vault as both are now ranked 2-3 in the SWAC. Hilton Smith (22-10) and Tyree Newman (22-6.5) placed 6-7 in the long jump while Chadrick Williams finished second in the triple jump after a mark of 49-1 as he ranks sixth overall in the SWAC. Ahmad Muhammad (46-3.25) and Smith (45-7.25) finished 4-5.
 
Blaine Nunn placed 10th (48-0.75) in the shot put as he moved to fifth in the SWAC while Jaden Brooks stands at eighth in the SWAC after a throw of 46-11.5.
 
Jaden Brooks placed seventh (151-6) in the discus while Jalen Walker threw a career-and SWAC best throw of 172-9 in the hammer. Brooks (158-5), Chadrick Williams (155-8) and Donovan Brooks (147-4) placed 5-6-7 in the javelin.
 
The team is back in action on April 20 at the annual J Fred Duckett Twilight at Rice University.
