Men’s Track Martin, 4×100-Meter Relay Claim Titles At Prairie View Relays

The Texas Southern men's track & field team had a busy weekend as they participated in both the Prairie View Relays and Victor Lopez Classic.
At the Prairie View Relays, which was held on the prairie view a&m campus, TSU's Javan Martin won the 100 in a time of 10.7 which is fifth-best in the swac while the 4×100-meter relay team of Karon Bain, Martin, Eric Prier and Kenneth White ran a season-low 41.46 to finish first. The mile relay team of Tyrel Simms, White, Prier and Brandon Washington placed second in a time of 3:16.8.
Several team members also participated at the Victor Lopez Classic, which was hosted by rice University.
Jose Gonzalez posted the SWAC's second-fastest time as he placed sixth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Efrain also posted the SWAC's number two time in the 1,500-meter run as he finished in a time of 3:59.01.
In the jumps, Kenneth Free – who currently holds the third-best mark in the SWAC – placed fourth overall in the long jump as he logged a jump of 23-8.75. Chadrick Williams finished fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 48-07.25 as he moved to No. 2 in the SWAC as a result.
The men's team is back in action at the Baylor Invitational on Saturday.
