Men’s Golf Leads PGA Works Collegiate Championship, O’Connor, Chadha Post 2-Under Opening Rounds

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Texas Southern University Men’s Golf team leads the field by one stroke at the end of the first round of the 2022 PGA Works Collegiate Championship.

Freshman Will O’Connor and junior Devansh Chadha are tied in third place after both posted a 2-under round of 70. Senior Landon Johnstone’s 4-over 74 leaves him T14. Freshmen Joel Sullivan posted a 3-over 75 while Kci Lindskog is one stroke back on 76.

“I like the manner in which our guys fought, and I like our mindset,” Texas Southern University head golf coach, Dr. Gary Grandison said. 

The Lady Tigers is currently in 7th place at the end of round one. Graduate student Rev Alcantara leads the way for the women as she’s tied for 17th following her opening round of 82. Freshman Dili Sitanonth is two strokes back.

“The Torresdale course is tricky, so it was an adventure for our Lady Tigers.  We expect a much better performance tomorrow,” Dr. Grandison concluded. 

The second round of the PGA Works Collegiate Championship will commence Tuesday with an 7:30 am start at the Union League Liberty Hill and The Union League Golf Club at Torresdale of the historic Union League of Philadelphia.
