Low Scoring Day Holds Tigers Back At Tulsa

The Texas Southern women’s basketball team fell on the road, 82-45 to Tulsa on Friday night at the Reynolds Center.

Texas Southern (1-7) was paced by Jordyn Turner who registered nine points while being 4-of-4 from the charity stripe.

Ahrray Young led Tulsa (8-3) with a game-high 16 points.

The Tigers were limited to just eight points in the first as Tulsa would score 23 points. Nya Harmon who tallied eight points on the night scored five of those points in the period while adding six boards.

The closes the game would get was an 11-point deficit for the Tigers after a jumper by Lawson with 5:12 left in the second.

Down the stretch, the Golden Hurricane scored 15 points in a row in under three minutes left before the half. Tulsa had a commanding 52-19 lead going into the break. Texas Southern won the third quarter 15-13, but it wasn’t enough as the game was too far out of reach.

The Tigers will travel back home to the H&PE Arena to take on Nebraska Omaha on Monday, Dec. 18. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
