Lee Tied 4th; Lady Tigers in 3rd After Day 1 of Women’s Collegiate Championship

STOCKBRIDGE, Georgia – The Texas Southern University Women’s Golf team is currently positioned in 3rd place at the end of the opening round of the National Women’s Collegiate Golf Championship hosted by the Women’s in Golf Foundation.

Freshman Kennedi Lee leads the way for the Lady Tigers with a 6-over round of 78 and is currently tied in 4th place individually.

“We showed our youth today with a mental lapse but we are in a position to improve,” Texas Southern University head golf coach, Dr. Gary Grandison said.

Junior Ashlie Hobbs is one stroke back on 7-over (79) and is placed 8th individually. Graduate student Rev Alcantara is in 13th place.

“We know our position and what it will take to compete tomorrow,” Dr. Grandison concluded.

The Lady Tigers will conclude play at the National Women’s Collegiate Golf Championship Wednesday at Eagles Landing Country Club.
