The Texas Southern softball team returns to action this weekend in Arlington, Texas for the start of the annual Maverick Classic. The Tigers will open up on Friday against Kent State at 4:30 p.m. Followed by a matchup versus tournament host UTA at 7 p.m. On Saturday, TSU will face UMKC at 11:30 a.m. in addition to Kent State at 2 p.m. The Tigers will close out tournament action on Sunday versus Stephen F. Austin at 9 a.m.

The Tigers opened the 2020 season with a 1-3 record at the HEB Classic last weekend. Newcomer Daryn Haslam led the team with a .500 average and was named SWAC Player of the Week for her efforts. The Cedar Park, Texas native also recorded a team-best seven runs batted in (RBI) and nine total bases. Haslam hit a home run and a double while drawing three walks.
She drove in four RBI with a home run against Incarnate Word while driving in two RBI, a double and drawing two walks against Toledo.
The Tigers were scheduled to face Stephen F. Austin on Tuesday, but had to postpone the game due to weather.
