Gonzalez, Williams Win Titles, Men’s Track Has 9 Top 10 Finishes In Mobile

MOBILE, Ala. – Chadrick Williams and Jose Gonzalez claimed first-place titles as TSU had nine top-10 finishes at the South Alabama Jaguar Invitational on Sunday.
 
Gonzalez won first place in the mile run after a time of 4:13.18 and still has the top mark of the season entering the month of February. Williams finished two feet ahead of the next closest competitor in the triple jump after a mark of 50-2.75 feet as his length currently ranks second in the SWAC.
 
Brandon Washington placed second in the 800 and ranks fourth in the SWAC after a time of 1:54.02. Ahmad Muhammad jumped a personal best 47-3.75 feet in the triple jump to finish fifth overall while Elijah Jordan finished 10th after a mark of 45-7.
 
Jalen Walker threw the SWAC’s top mark in the weight throw as he recorded a throw of 56-2 feet while the mile relay team placed second (3:21.7). Turey Stoudmire jumped 6-11 in an intense battle as he finished second in the high jump. Adam Hines had another solid weekend with a SWAC-best height of 14-8 feet in the pole vault.
 
Chaunzavia Lewis placed eighth overall in the 60-meter dash after a run of 6.9 while Jeremiah Barrera moved to sixth in the SWAC after a run of 4:33.42 in the mile.
 
TSU is back in action at the 2024 SWAC Indoor Track & Field Championship in Birmingham, Ala. on Feb. 17.
