Gonzalez, Hobbs Earn First Team Honors, Women’s Golf Places 3rd at SWAC Championship

FLOWOOD, Miss. – The Texas Southern women’s golf team finished in third place after the final round of the 2024 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Golf Championship on Wednesday.

The SWAC Golf Championship was hosted at The Refuge Golf Club where the Tigers posted a 958 (312 – 324 – 322). 

Junior Alexa Gonzalez was the top-scoring Tiger as she placed third overall after her three-day total of 233 (77 – 79 – 77). She received All-SWAC Medalist First Team Honors as a result. Senior Ahlie Hobbs was one stroke back as she finished in fourth  place with a 234 (76 – 81 – 77), and received All-SWAC Medalist First Team Honors.

Junior Miness Siame and freshman Shawnise Gregory tied for14th place on 248.

The SWAC Championship concludes the regular season for the Tigers. They return to the links in a few weeks as they gear up to compete in the 2024 PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship (PWCC). The event will be played May 6-8, at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
