Clayburne Registers Season High In Home Loss To Jackson State

The Texas Southern women’s basketball fell 101-51 to Jackson State in a Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) match-up Saturday night inside the H&PE Arena.

Texas Southern (5-22 Overall, 4-12 SWAC) was led by Tatyanna Clayburne who registered a season-high 15 points including being 4-for-7 from behind the arc. Maci Quiller followed up with eight points and eight rebounds.

Jackson State (20-6, 15-0) was paced offensively by Miya Crump who registered a double double including 23 points and 10 rebounds. Andriana Avent tallied 19 points, while Ti’lan Bolger chipped in 13 points and five boards. Angel Jackson, who is the SWAC’s leading blocker posted four blocks.

How it Happened
•Texas Southern’s biggest  lead was 7-2 after a three-pointer by Alisa Knight to open the game. TSU’s last lead was 7-6 as JSU quickly began to close in. Jackson State used a 14-5 run after that to close out the first quarter leading 22-12.

•Once again, Jackson State limited TSU to just 12 points in the second quarter as TSU shot just 3-of-15 from the field to JSU’s 9-of-16. JSU led 46-24 at the half.

•Jackson State out-rebounded Texas Southern 56-31, however, both teams had 10 turnovers each.

•TSU registered 16 points in the paint as six came from the bench. JSU scored 58 points in the paint as 45 points came off the bench.
