Ciesiolka, Lindskog named TSU Athletics Student-Athletes Of The Month

Texas Southern Athletics’ Department of Academic Enhancement has named Shyanne Ciesiolka of women’s bowling and Kci Lindskog of men’s golf as its Student-Athletes Of The Month for the month of February.

Student-athletes are chosen as athletes of the month based on their commitment to academic success, efforts towards class, attitude towards academic staff, and devotion to volunteerism and service to the surrounding community.

Shyanne Ciesiolka, Bowling, Harker Heights, Texas, (Interdisciplinary Studies)

Nominator: Kimberly Evans, Assistant Athletic Director Of Academic Enhancement

Assistant Athletic Director, Kimberly Evans gives her nod of approval in support of Ms. Ciesiolka through the following statement “It’s an absolute honor to recommend Shyanne as the student athlete of the month. Its been a pleasure watching her soar through her studies as she pursues her degree. Shyanne is the text book picture of what it means to dominate on the lanes (bowling) and in the classroom.”

Head Women’s Bowling Coach, Sabrina Rose echoed the same sentiments when notified of Ms.Ciesiolka’s selection. “The perfect words to be used to describe Shyanne is dependable, hardworking, and fierce as Shyanne is referred to as the warrior on the team. Working with Shyanne daily, you can see that she is fully committed and driven to succeed in the classroom and in bowling.” Coach Rose

On the men’s side of the action, men’s golfer Kci Lindskog was nominated as the male student-athlete of the month for February.

Kci Lindsong, Golf, Jakarta Indonesia, (Sport Management w/ Business Concentration)

Nominator: Camille Mills

When reviewing the criteria for student-athlete of the month, Kci immediately stood out to me as a nominee for this selection. Kci came into our program and was immediately greeted with adversity such as being in an entirely different country amongst some of the traditional challenges of navigating college as a freshman student- athlete. Kci has met the challenges head on with a reformed attitude and experienced a swing in his performances across the board. Kci has taken the initiative to get involved with our student athlete advisory committee (SAAC) which serves as leaders within the student-athlete population and pillars within the community.

Head Golf Coach, Willie Shankle supported the selection of Mr. Lindsong by sharing his reflections “Kci is a guy that works hard day in and day out by bringing his A-game on and off the course. He’s a true team player and truly understands the importance of education and leadership in general in order to be successful”.

As we continue to progress through the semester our department looks forward to the continued highlights of our wonderful student-athletes as we continue to elevate our students both on the court and in their daily walks of life. #TSUPROUD
