Alcantara Named To WGCA All-American Scholar Team

Senior Rev Alcantara, a native of the Philippines, was honored for her work in the classroom with a spot on the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar Team for 2020-2021.

The minimum cumulative GPA for the team is 3.5 and the selection criteria for this prestigious All-American Scholar Team are among some of the most rigorous in all of college athletics. Alcantara has a perfect 4.0 cumulative GPA.

“I am extremely proud of Rev’s academic performance,” Texas Southern University head golf coach Dr. Gary Grandison said. “She bought into the team’s academic objectives, and I look forward to seeing how she closes out her senior year.”

The Women’s Golf Coaches Association, founded in 1983, is a non-profit organization representing women’s collegiate golf coaches. The WGCA was formed to encourage the playing of college golf for women in correlation with a general objective of education and in accordance with the highest tradition of intercollegiate competition. Today, the WGCA represents over 650 coaches throughout the U.S. and is dedicated to educating, promoting, and recognizing both its members and the student-athletes they represent.
