Women’s Basketball Set For Contest At Tulsa

•The Texas Southern women’s basketball team will hit the road to take on Tulsa University on Friday at the Reynolds Center. Tip-off is set for 6:30 p.m.

•The last time these two teams faced each other was Dec. of 2022. Texas Southern dropped a 83-80 decision. The Golden Hurricane lead the all-time series 3-1 as Texas Southern’s lone win was Dec. of 2013 (88-80).

•The Tigers are coming off a 89-42 loss to Houston on Tuesday afternoon inside the Fertitta Center. Texas Southern was led by Taniya Lawson who tallied 12 points.

•Tulsa (7-3) defeated Florida on Dec. 10, 72-64, for its second straight win. Delanie Crawford and Temira Poindexter, led the Tulsa with 22 and 21 points.

• Lawson sits at No.9 in the SWAC for scoring, averaging 11.6 ppg.

•Jaida Belton leads the SWAC in blocks having 14 in seven games played and sits at No.4 for rebounds, averaging seven per game. At Housto, she registered a season-high 11 rebounds.

•TSU Head Coach Vernette Skeete will look for her first career win in the month of December.

•The Tigers will have a lot to prove as they were selected to finish 11th in the Preseason SWAC Predicted Order of Finish.

• The Tigers will see a lot of new faces this year as they’ve brought in nine newcomers. However, they’ve lost nine letterwinners and feature a pair of new assistant coaches.
